Personnel: Executive Director: Valerie Cathcart Program Manager: Sarah Noyes Board: Dr. Ed Revelli - Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs - UCB School of Optometry Dr. Page Yarwood - Chief of Optometry Kaiser Permanente Scott Bell – Board President Scott Bell is the founding Board President of JVQ California. For 23 years, Mr. Bell was a University instructor, teaching at numerous notable California institutions at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including the University of California at Berkeley, Stanford University, and Mills College. Throughout his teaching career, Mr. Bell was active in a variety of community roles, as a member of the Board of Directors of various nonprofit organizations, as a volunteer for numerous municipal commissions, and as an advocate for numerous causes, most particularly in arts and education. Mr. Bell brings wisdom, sensitivity, leadership, and dedication to his role on the Board of JVQ California. Valerie Cathcart – Executive Director – JVQ California Ms Cathcart is a native San Franciscan and graduate of the University of California, San Diego with a degree in Psychology. For ten years she owned and ran Cathcart Contemporary, a fine arts consultancy dealing with contemporary fine arts. Her expertise in local marketing and networking brought her to the attention of the JVQCA Board. In her first year at the helm of JVQ California, Ms. Cathcart built a successful program for JVQCA in Alameda, Contra Costa, and San Francisco counties. She developed custom programs for each school district, recruited a large network of volunteer optometrists, and helped develop a world class Board of Directors. She oversaw a fundraising effort that raised over $150,000 in its very first year, which allowed JVQ California e hundreds of at-risk children. |
